We loved seeing everyone this weekend! Feel free to message us during the week if you have any questions. If you missed this week’s message, or want to hear it again, check out our SERMONS Page. Messages are generally posted each week by Tuesday afternoon.
Every week, we aim to provide you with some questions to process the message deeper, either personally or with a small group. Here are some questions for you to consider from the message, “Introduction In An Elevator”, part 1 of the THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING series, with Pastor Shawn M. Shoup.
KEY SCRIPTURES
- James 2:26
- Ephesians 2:8-9
TALK IT OUT
Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your Connect Group. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.
Start talking
Find a conversation starter.
- What is your identity?
- What does God say about your identity?
- Has your identity changed over the years? Explain.
Start thinking
Ask a question to get you/your group thinking.
- How do you show your Identity?
- Where do you get your Identity or place your identity in?
- Does your identity affect the way you see God and read His Word? Explain.
Start sharinG
Choose a question to create openness.
- How similar or different is how you see your identity and what God says your identity is?
- Do you think God wants you to change your identity?
- How do grace and identity fit together, or do they?
Start praying
Be bold and pray with power.
Father,
Help me see where I have placed my identity and where I need to make adjustments. Teach me how to apply grace to myself and others who may see things differently. Thank You for placing your identity in my heart of hearts.
Amen and amen.
Start doing
Commit to a step and live it out this week.
- Determine where you get your identity and what you place your identity in.
- Read the book of James in one sitting for a week and record what Holy Spirit speaks to you.
- Find an accountability partner to walk through any change in identity God may have you make, both now and in the future.
- Read in the Old Testament and note how individuals use, or do not use, their identity in the situation they find themselves in.
- Pick one or two of those options and take steps to walk them out this week.
