We loved seeing everyone this weekend! Feel free to message us during the week if you have any questions. If you missed this week’s message, or want to hear it again, be sure to check out our SERMONS Page. Messages are generally posted each week by Tuesday afternoon.
Every week, it’s our goal to provide you with some questions to process the message deeper, either personally, or with a small group. Here are some questions for you to consider from this week’s message, “Break My Heart”, part 3 of the POWERFUL PRAYERS series with Pastor Shawn M. Shoup.
KEY SCRIPTURES
- Matthew 17:20
- Jeremiah 8:18
- Philippians 3:5-8
- Romans 9:1-3
TALK IT OUT
Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your Connect Group. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.
Start talking
Find a conversation starter for your group.
- Define what faith is and what it looks like to you.
- How big is a mustard seed? Compare it to other seeds.
- How do you measure faith? What standard do you use?
- Using the above standard, how large is your faith?
Start thinking
Ask a question to get your group thinking.
- Do you know or have an idea about what breaks God’s heart? Explain.
- How soft or hard is your heart for the things which break God’s heart?
- Where have you placed your faith? Is it in objects, people, events, etc?
- How do you react to pain? How do you think God reacts to pain? Explain the differences, if any.
Start sharinG
Choose a question to create openness.
- What does a broken heart look like?
- Does God’s love/grace have rules/requirements? Explain.
- If God has asked you to do something, and you have not done it, could/would that break God’s heart? Explain.
- Have you ever thanked God for the pain you have gone, or are going through?
- Are you willing to have God turn your life/world upside down in order to set you free from what holds you captive, or breaks God’s heart? Explain.
Start praying
Be bold and pray with power.
Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit,
Please show me what breaks Your heart. Teach me to be more sensitive to not what just breaks Your heart, but what brings the greatest joy. Thank You for loving me the way You do.
Amen and amen.
Start doing
Commit to a step and live it out this week.
- Take note of what causes your heart to ache. Ask God what He says about it, and then record what He says in your prayer journal.
- Read a story in the Old Testament. Take note of God’s words and reactions, and hen record what you are shown.
- Talk to Holy Spirit about how He sees your life, the changes He would like to help you make, and record what He tells you.
- Attend one of the prayer meetings in your church or community (Destiny prayer gatherings: Tuesdays at 12:00 pm, Thursdays at 4:30 pm, and Sundays at 9:30 am).
- Ask God’s help to determine how ready and willing you are to respond to what He asks of you, or, if you need to do something to get ready.
- Pick one or two of those options and take steps to walk them out this week.
